Digital Panoramic Radiograph
CommercePark Children's Dentistry & Orthodontics provides this modern technology to its patients to help spot potential problem areas that other X-ray techniques may not. A panoramic X-ray is not a substitute for intraoral X-rays, because it does not show fine details, but it is extremely useful for studying a child's developing teeth and jaws. It shows all the teeth, large portions of the jaws and other structures on one relatively large film. Commerce Park Children's Dentistry & Orthodontics uses the "pan" to find unerupted or impacted teeth, cysts, retained root fragments, fractures and other conditions of the jaws. Panoramic X-rays do not require any more radiation than a complete set of intraoral X-ray's: the exposure to radiation is minimal and approximately the same as the child would receive from a complete intraoral series.
Many children actually find the panoramic X-ray experience fun! |
