State-of-the-Art Dentistry in Bridgeport & Huntington, CT
Here at Commerce Park Children’s Dentistry & Orthodontics, we use one of the latest technological advances in dentistry - digital radiography (X-rays.) Digital x-rays can be viewed instantly, and help us determine individualized treatment plans for our patients’ dental and orthodontic care.
Dentists have been using x-rays to capture and diagnose different dental problems since the beginning of modern dentistry. Technological advances have made digital x-rays the preferred way to create an image of a patient’s teeth and supporting bone structure. Digital X-rays are much safer for our young patients, producing significantly lower (80-90%) radiation exposure, making them much safer than the conventional x-rays of the past.
Why Are Digital X-Rays Better?
Lower levels of radiation
Better for your body
No wait times - images are created instantly
More comfortable for you, the patient
Zero disposal of hard copies, eliminating their environmental impact
Digital Panoramic Radiograph
We use digital panoramic radiographs to help spot potential problem areas within a child’s mouth and bone structure that other X-ray techniques may not.
A panoramic X-ray is not a substitute for intraoral X-rays, because it does not show fine details, but it is extremely useful for studying a child's developing teeth and jaws. It shows all the teeth, large portions of the jaws and other structures on one relatively large film. The "pan" is used to find unerupted or impacted teeth, cysts, retained root fragments, fractures and other conditions of the jaws. The exposure to radiation is minimal and approximately the same as the child would receive from a complete intraoral series.
